My door is a plain flush slab with no panels. Does that make it easier?

The finish failed on the bottom third only, and the door is under a deep overhang. Why?
An overhang stops rain falling on a door. It does not stop water splashing up at it or sitting on the sill. The bottom rail also has end grain at both stiles, which takes on moisture roughly ten times faster than a face does, and most doors leave the factory with that bottom edge unsealed. Add Reston's shaded, slow-drying entries and the lower third stays wet long after the top has dried out. That is where a finish goes first.
